Installing on Windows Vista

These instructions supplement the standard instructions for installing the Systems2win Add-in.

If the user will not always be running operating their Windows Vista computer using Administrator privileges...
DO NOT install this application beneath the Program Files folder.

Why? Because Windows Vista requires the user to have Administrator privileges to write to files in the Program Files folder.
Your Systems2win application needs to write to files in its program folder. So we suggest installing to c:\zSystems2win, or any other folder that is not a sub-folder of the Program Files folder.
(And if you don't like this any more than we do, then please, write to Microsoft to let them know what you think about their new "feature".)

If you get this dialog message...

Just click "This program installed correctly".

Free education for techies who care...
Windows Vista gives this dialog message for ANY application that was compiled in any version of Windows other than Windows Vista.
If you (foolishly) choose Reinstall using recommended settings, and you then choose to reinstall using their "recommended setting" of simulating the operating system that was originally used to compile the program, then from then on, our software will no longer be able to know that you are running Windows Vista. It will be fooled into thinking that you are running an older version of Windows. And then our software will recommend that you install your Systems2win application beneath the Program Files folder - which is the right thing to do for every version of Windows other than Vista. And then your application might not work. (As explained above.)
